Alabama Blogger Arrested, Jailed For Writing About Former Governor’s Son

Alabama Blogger Arrested, Jailed For Writing About Former Governor’s Son: A local judge ordered the blogger's silence, in spite of established U.S. Supreme Court precedent saying such prior restraints are presumptively unconstitutional.

The Secret Sun: Babies, Bathwater and the New Age

The New Age movement is one of the great enigmas of our time. You won't find hardly anyone willing to defend it or define themselves as a "New Ager," and yet the movement has slowly and quietly (some would say insidiously) changed the culture at large, for better and worse.

I didn't know there even was such a thing until Shirley McLaine brought it into the mainstream with the 1986 TV movie of her autohagiography, Out on a Limb. Of course, I'd been heavily immersed in the movement prior to that but what I thought I was involved with was an underground and vaguely outlaw occult movement that itinerant Deadheads were introducing lost and bored punk rockers to in the mid-80s.

It seemed to be a rich and loamy mission field; the first wave of hardcore punk had fallen apart, giving rise to Nazi punk, thrash metal and nihilist grunge. None of the energy or optimism of the early 80s was left in the movement, as a great darkness had descended over the scene. A lot of punks were gagging for an antidote, which groups like the Deadheads and the Hare Krishna's were all too happy to provide.

There were certain precedents in Post-Punk, particularly the British bands (Killing Joke, Comsat Angels, Coil, Current 93, etc) who toyed with the kind of post-hippie occultism that would have such a decisive impact on Alan Moore and Grant Morrison and the rest of 80s British Invasion, but I would definitely credit the 80s renaissance of The Grateful Dead for the clandestine spread of the "New Age" ideas in the counterculture at large.

America Listens To The World.

Not content with eavesdropping on its own citizens,
Angela Merkel gets her own mobile communications recorded.
The USA records and spies on EVERYONE.
They just been caught going through the Brazilian presidents knickers.
So she is not going to be eating dinner with Obama as planned.
Yet the Brazilians spy on their own, too.
The UK government spies on its citizens, too.
As does the French.
Oh and the Germans.
The Russians. Etc...
Everybody listens to everyone.
Phones calls, emails, everything is being hacked by everyone.
Not to stop terrorism but to control and manipulate.
For profit - corporate fascism.
We are here/there. Where ?

To The left Is Suicide Alley.

Just reading about another cyclist injured by a lorry in london.
More cycle lanes is the cry.
Alarms to warn lorry drivers of cyclists.
Better education of drivers blah blah.
All well and good...
I see the stupidity of cyclists every day.
Entering main roads without looking or slowing down.
Moving position without looking to see if its safe.
Cycling down the inside of a lorry is insanity.
Tis called suicide alley for a reason.
4 wheeled+ drivers are rubbish.
Sadly so are some cyclists.
Watch out for others and stay away from big things.

Homes Not Assets.

Every month I hear/read that house prices are going up.
As if that is a good thing.
In the north they are stagnant or falling.
Yet in london they appear to be rising on a daily basis.
This is not a yardstick of a buoyant economy.
For the majority of people a house is a home - not an investment.
Higher prices means higher rents.
And more of a burden on our benefit system when unemployment rises.
House price inflation is NOT a good thing.
Our government and media lie when they say it is.
It only benefits the rich - as usual

Plebgate.
Police officers appear to have lied about an incident with a cabinet minister.
I should be shocked but eh, perhaps im too old in the tooth.
If the police lie about an incident like this
what else have/do they lie about ?
Mitchell has said he swore at the officers.
Which in itself is enough to warrant his resignation.
Now the whole country knows what some of us have been saying for years.
Our police forces are corrupt.

Madeline McCann.

I am slightly confused about the new Madeline McCann inquiry.
Where is the police and press interest in say, Ben Needham ?
Or even further back in time, Genette Tate ?
And all those other missing children in between the years ?
An estimate of £10 million has been spent on this case and rising.
All children are important.
What makes this one so special?
And if my own child had gone missing after I left her alone I would have been arrested - rightly so.
Strange case indeed.

Prison review of Ariel Castro’s death cites possibility of ’auto-erotic asphyxiation’

Cleveland serial rapist Ariel Castro may have died by accident, not suicide, according to a new report that detailed the falsification of prison logs and suggested that the kidnapper may have been engaged in auto-erotic asphyxiation in his cell.

Castro was serving a life sentence plus 1,000 years after pleading guilty to the decade-long imprisonment of Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry and Michelle Knight. The 53-year-old former bus driver was found hanging in his cell a month into his term.

He was found on Sept. 3 with his pants and underwear around his ankles at 9:18 p.m., hanged by his neck with a bed sheet from his cell window, according to the report released Thursday by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Castro left no suicide note, according to the report. He had pictures of his family out in his cell and a Bible open to the Gospel of John, chapters 2 and 3.

“These facts, however, were relayed to the Ohio State Patrol for consideration of the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation,” the report states. “No other immediate observations about the scene led to conclusions about the motivation for the self-inflicted death.”

Investigators also reviewed “incoming letters to Castro that were found in his property … and found no additional information that would lead to conclusions about the motivation for the self-inflicted death.”

Castro had been reviewed by a mental health professional in early August, completed a mental health evaluation, and completed a suicide questionnaire, according to the report. “He indicated no current suicidal thoughts or past attempts to hurt himself,” the report said. Family members visited on Aug. 12 and Aug. 26.

“There seems to be no known, substantiated motivation for the self-inflicted death,” the report concludes.

The report also found that 30-minute rounds were not properly completed on Castro’s cell at eight points during the afternoon and evening leading up to his death, with records for five of those rounds falsified in prison logs.

November 15, 2013, is the day a judge will sentence Jeremy Hammond to 10 years for speaking truth.

For those who are not familiar with the name, Jeremy Hammond is one more in a growing number of whistleblowers being attacked and forced into silence for bringing the illegal and unconscionable abuse of the rights of the people to light.

Joining the likes of Barrett Brown, journalist;  Chelsea Manning, United States Army soldier; Edward Snowden, computer specialist; William Binney, former NSA official-mathematician and code breaker…and a host of others who have been attacked, arrested, prosecuted,  investigated, harassed, maligned and many jailed under the guise of “security and protection,” Jeremy Hammond, a political activist, web developer and musician from Chicago, is a hero to those of us who truly believe in transparency and accountability – of our government, of corporations and of each other.

Jeremy Hammond only did what his conscience demanded of him.  He was involved in hacking and leaking information from Strategic Forecasting, a private security firm.  The information revealed that Stratfor had been spying on human rights activists at the behest of corporations and the U.S. government – those “clients” include large banks, government contractors as well as police departments, state troopers, and other city, state and federal agencies in the US and across the globe (this includes information gathered on and for use against the Occupy movement)

In December, 2011, a group of hactivists broke through the security of Stratfor’s system and gathered information to include emails and credit card accounts for clients then left a message for Stratfor.

By Monday, February 27, 2012, Wikileaks began their release of emails dating from 2004 through 2011 –  ” The Global Intelligence Files” –  more than five million emails from Texas-headquartered Stratfor.

Also on that  Monday, Twitter became twittering with tweets from  @AnonymousIRC,  confirming it was the source of the WikiLeaks release.

“We promised you those mails and now they’ll finally be delivered. Five million (that’s 5,000,000) emails at your pleasure,” said the Anonymous account.
“There’s a treasure trove of nasty details in those emails. We think there’s something for everyone.”

Emails published through Wikileaks, reported on in the Guardian, as well as the Anonymous’ “Christmas present” left on Stratfor’s servers left the CIA wanna-bes, Stratfor, embarrassed, to say the least.

Jeremy was arrested in March, 2012 and by August, 2012,  plead guilty to a violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) and is now facing a maximum sentence of ten years.  That 10 years is more than his “co-conspirators”, in the UK and elsewhere, have received – many only received 16 months for their part in the act; others are already free – but Jeremy, in the US, will be looking at a decade.

In his statement at the time of the arrangement, Jeremy writes:

Today I pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. This was a very difficult decision. I hope this statement will explain my reasoning. I believe in the power of the truth. In keeping with that, I do not want to hide what I did or to shy away from my actions. This non-cooperating plea agreement frees me to tell the world what I did and why, without exposing any tactics or information to the government and without jeopardizing the lives and well-being of other activists on and offline.

During the past 15 months I have been relatively quiet about the specifics of my case as I worked with my lawyers to review the discovery and figure out the best legal strategy. There were numerous problems with the government’s case, including the credibility of FBI informant Hector Monsegur. However, because prosecutors stacked the charges with inflated damages figures, I was looking at a sentencing guideline range of over 30 years if I lost at trial. I have wonderful lawyers and an amazing community of people on the outside who support me. None of that changes the fact that I was likely to lose at trial. But, even if I was found not guilty at trial, the government claimed that there were eight other outstanding indictments against me from jurisdictions scattered throughout the country. If I had won this trial I would likely have been shipped across the country to face new but similar charges in a different district. The process might have repeated indefinitely. Ultimately I decided that the most practical route was to accept this plea with a maximum of a ten year sentence and immunity from prosecution in every federal court.

Now that I have pleaded guilty it is a relief to be able to say that I did work with Anonymous to hack Stratfor, among other websites. Those others included military and police equipment suppliers, private intelligence and information security firms, and law enforcement agencies. I did this because I believe people have a right to know what governments and corporations are doing behind closed doors. I did what I believe is right.

I have already spent 15 months in prison. For several weeks of that time I have been held in solitary confinement. I have been denied visits and phone calls with my family and friends. This plea agreement spares me, my family, and my community a repeat of this grinding process.

I would like to thank all of my friends and supporters for their amazing and ongoing gestures of solidarity. Today I am glad to shoulder the responsibility for my actions and to move one step closer to daylight.

Jeremy Hammond

FreeAnons, as well as other organizations fighting to help Jeremy, is asking for the help of those who are Anonymous…

We may not be taking part in active hactivism on the front lines but we are Anonymous in heart and soul.

Those of us who stand for and believe in accountability of all and for all.

Who stand for and believe in transparency as the only way to force that accountability on those who hide behind a shield of corporation, wealth and law designed  to subvert real freedom – in this nation, constitutionally guaranteed freedom to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that includes respect and regard for each person equally.

And those who stand with Jeremy Hammond –  a brilliant, creative, young man, acting on behalf of us all.

What you can do:

We ask for a letter of support for Jeremy Hammond, asking for leniency in the sentencing of Jeremy Hammond, before the cut off date of October 15, 2013.

We know the US government under the current “prosecute all whistleblowers” regime, will want the full 10 years but we can make a difference in what the judge will do by asking for that leniency – the sentence term is, after all, at the judges discretion.

For more information on the letter writing campaign – what is needed and how to write the letter:

http://freeanons.org/justice-4-jeremy/

http://jayleiderman.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/letters-desperately-needed-for-jeremy.html

Those letters must be received no later than October 15, 2013.

We are Anonymous

We never forgive

We never forget

Expect us

Paedophile ring abused children in State homes...

A well-organised paedophile ring involving civil servants, ex-clergy, members of political parties and even gardai infiltrated the child-care system in Ireland.

Now campaigners believe that there were links between the Dublin-based ring and members of a well-organised paedophile ring which infiltrated the child-care system in north Wales, and which was finally exposed and broken up in the mid-1990s.
While the Catholic Church has been vilified in the Ryan Report there are now calls for an inquiry into the role of non-clerical abusers in state-run institutions
The Government has been taking a more severe legal attitude to victims of abuse in State-run schools and other institutions than the Catholic Church has to victims of clerical abuse, they say. The Department of Education has "taken on" one such victim, Louise O'Keeffe, who was raped by the headmaster of her school in west Cork when she was eight years old in 1973. Although former primary school headmaster Leo Hickey was convicted of multiple rape and abuse of children, Ms O'Keeffe was left with a legal bill of €500,000 after the State successfully fought her claim for compensation.
Hundreds of victims of rape and abuse by non-clerical teachers or care workers in the State's employ have received letters from the Dept of Education threatening that their cases will be fought.
Ms O'Keeffe, the High Court heard, suffered "catastrophic injuries" at the hands of the paedophile rapist Hickey -- who nevertheless continues to be paid his State pension of €26,000 a year.
Among the figures identified but never exposed because of insufficient evidence is a retired senior civil servant who would have the power to suppress indictments and reports on sex offenders.
Another is a retired former senior garda in Dublin who had well-known links to senior clergy and who was accused of raping a 13-year-old boy. The garda was transferred from a city station after the allegation but was never questioned or charged.
And at least one senior care worker remained in public employ until the mid-1990s, despite repeated claims by boys that he was an abuser and brought paedophiles from Britain and Northern Ireland to care homes to abuse boys.
Many boys who passed through the state-run homes later became teenage prostitutes. Several have made allegations about a ring of apparently rich and well-connected paedophiles with access to the homes in the 1980s.
In an ironic twist, an Irish woman who has been raising the issue of abuse of children in State-run institutions in Dublin, Loretta Byrne, was effectively forced from her job in the Department of Education in 1988 after she persisted in seeking action about allegations of abuse of boys in care.
Among the boys who claimed to have been raped in the late 1980s was Brendan O'Donnell, who went on to murder Imelda Riney, her three-year-old son Liam, and Fr Joe Walsh in 1994.
One home where Loretta Byrne says there was strong evidence of abuse was Trudder House in Wicklow, which was opened and run directly by the State in the 1970s specifically for Traveller children.
One of the first directors of Trudder House in Newtownmountkennedy was Duncan McInnes from Scotland, who raped and abused dozens of children in the home. He fled the country after complaints were made in 1981. He later died in Canada.
Paedophile David Murray was forced to leave the Sisters of Charity in Kilkenny in the mid-1970s after a boy said Murray had raped him. Rather than report this to the gardai, the Sisters helped Murray find a new job at Scoil Ard Mhuire at Oberstown, Co Dublin, where he worked for several years. Murray is believed to have had links with Welsh paedophiles who travelled between here and north Wales and even found jobs for some in State care homes here. He was eventually convicted of buggery and gross indecency and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in 1997.
By the time he was arrested and questioned in the mid-1990s, Murray had raped and abused boys in a succession of homes here and, it is believed, Wales and possibly Northern Ireland. Details of all this were excluded from the report which concentrated almost exclusively on the abuses in Church-run institutions.
Ms Byrne said: "The Government has been aware of the abuse that went on in state institutions for a very long time. [Judge] Mary Laffoy resigned because the Department of Education would not give her papers. They must release these papers if the victims in these places are to get the kind of closure that the clerical abuse victims have had in the redress process."
